This weekend, while we are heading west to Belmullet for the 1st round of the 2012 Irish Wave Champs, Mikey Clancy will compete in the PWA World Cup in Sylt.

The World Cup Sylt is one of the biggest and longest running windsurfing events on the planet. Featuring all of the three main disciplines: waves, freestyle and slalom and some 200,000 spectators watching on the beach.

With the worlds top windsurfers competing for the final positions on the tour this event is the highlight of the windsurfing year.

Mikey Clancy will again represent Ireland and Surfdock in the wave contest in Sylt. It is his second time competing in Sylt, finishing 25th in 2009 his rookie year. Last week the 22 year old Dubliner excelled in the KIA Cold Hawaii PWA in Denmark and is looking forward to the event. Early forecasts are looking good for the 10 days of competition unlike last year’s windless contest and with “Kostermania” breaking out in Germany it promises to be an event worth following!

Best of luck to Mikey from all of us here at Surfdock.

The event in Sylt will kick off today, get in the mood with this great clip of the recent PWA Cold Hawaii World Cup in Klitmoller.

Mikey will use Fanatic Boards, North Sails, ION clothing and K4 fins for the competition in Sylt – available to purchase in store and in our online shop.

See Mikey Clancy Athlete Facebook page and PWA website for more information.
